Efficient And Simple Task Management Tools
Effectively Manage Your Day-To-Day
I enjoy exploring new tools that help add structure the chaos and creating a method to the madness. I am big fan of organizational tools and ways of improving efficiency. When it comes to "todo lists" I feel the key to a successful list is a simple one. Rather than writing down every detail from start to finish, I like to first break my steps down into multiple categories and (if necessary) get into granular steps. Although most todo lists software support sub-sub-sub tasks, it doesn't mean you have to use it. Try to keep your list manageable by listing categories.
There are 2 main task managers that I use daily, Basecamp for the office and the Todoist for personal tasks. They are both web based and both include free and premium features. Basecamp is actually an online collaboration tool, I basically use this to manage clients. Essentially within Basecamp there is a "ToDos" section where you can create your task categories and highlight key steps in the process, I believe it's called "tadalist". In any case, it's a great tool and I highly recommend it. One of my favorite features is the ability to create "ToDolist templates" and this is also included in the free version. It's great way to document a process, as well as training others.
I like to keep my business and personal tasks separate. Even though I use Todoist as my personal task manager, it's a very robust tool (I currently use the free version). If you are using Firefox, the Todoist can be set up to open in the sidebar of your browser. There is also a Todoist plugin with Launchy, which is a keyboard shortcut tool for windows. It's quick way to add something to your Todoist in just a few keystrokes without having to go to your browser.
